Pierre-Laurent Boucharlat played his first concerto with orchestra at the age of 13, and gave his first recital at the age of 15.

After winning his prize at the Music High School of Lyon, Pierre-Laurent Boucharlat was accepted unanimously into the Troisième Cycle in Paris, in the class of Jean-Claude Pennetier. He then continued his studies with Monique Deschaussées, a student of Alfred Cortot and Edwin Fischer.

A winner of international competitions (Spedidam Prize, Darius Milhaud Prize), his notoriety became assured in 2000, when his CD, a live recording of the 24 studies of Chopin, was released and favourably announced in, Piano Le Magazine.

He has since been invited to perform in many countries in Europe (Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Sapin, Belgium, Greece, Czech Republic, Poland, Turkey, Macedonia), in Asia (Kazakhstan, Siberia) and América (United States, Canada, Mexico).

He can be heard regularly in recital and as soloist with orchestra, and in chamber music, notably with the Ensemble Promethée, which he founded in 2005. He collaborates alongside recognized partners such as Pascal Amoyel, Vadim Tchijik, Philippe Bernold, Emmanuelle Bertrand, David Bismuth, Nicolas Dautricourt, Florent Héau, Mark Drobinsky, Hugo Ticciati, the Archimede Quartett, and the Wiener Kammersymphonie.

He plays regularly with orchestras including the Symphonic Orchestras of Krasnoyarsk (Siberia), Morelia (Mexico), Thessaloniki (Greece), Bryansk (Russia), Astana (Kazakhstan), and Garde Républicaine (France) as well as many others. He has worked with the finest conductors such as Claudio Cohen (Brazil), Gilles Colliard  Switzerland), Alessandro Tortosa (Italy), Eduardo Armbatsoumian (Russie), Michaïl Benyumov (Russie), Jean-Marc Cochereau (France), or Andrea Barizza (Italie).

He also plays with Chamber Orchestras such as the Orchestre de Chambre de Toulouse (France), the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra (Poland), the Camerata du Rhône (France), and the Ensemble Artemus (France).

Recently, French Television (France 2, France 3 and TLM) began filming several of his concerts and broadcasting both here as well as on Russian, Catalan, Italian, Bulgarian, and Polish television.

He also has been invited to perform several times in live on France Musique, notably in 2012, in association with the famous French performer, Anne Roumanoff, and the writer Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt (recorded and printed by the French editor Albin Michel in 2014).

He is the Artistic Co-director (alongside Karine Locatelli) of the festival, Musicales en Tricastin, and also is artistic director, Ecully Musical and of the association, Musique en Franc-Lyonnais.

His discography includes several other CD dedicated to Beethoven (with both a single and a three-disc volume), Schumann and Mussorgsky (Pictures at an Exhibition), Liszt (including the Sonata), and «The Slave Soul» (recorded live with the Russian mezzosoprano, Elena Sommer).
